It is hard to understand hunger in America - why, with such riches and plenty, are so many underfed? Especially in North Carolina! And what about National Health Care? Is it not time to remove the word insurance from the Health Care phrase, as in all other civilized countries? Are Americans less deserving?

As many of you realize, politics and politicians are to blame - while we apparently cannot make any real difference in Washington, we actually can help the hungry.

The financial and economic crisis that erupted in 2008 caused a dramatic increase in hunger in the United States. Obama did what he could. but lately a reversal is underway.

Households with children reported a significantly higher food insecurity rate than households without children in 2011: 20.6% vs. 12.2%

These 7 states have statistically higher food insecurity rates than the US national average (14.7%): Mississippi (19.2%), Texas (18.5%), Arkansas (19.2%), Alabama (17.4%), Georgia (17.4%), Florida (16.2%), North Carolina (17.1%).
